The MND Service at Macquarie (MNDS@MU) provides comprehensive care for patients with MND, with a patient-focused model of care to manage all aspects of MND including:
New patients with MND are seen rapidly to enable accurate assessment and ascertainment of the diagnosis. Referrals of new patients with a diagnosis of MND are seen as soon as possible to enable accurate assessment of the major issues. The Multidisciplinary MND Clinic at Macquarie is held on the first and third Wednesday of the month at Macquarie Neurology in the Macquarie University Clinic.
The MNDS@MU is run for patients with MND and has some financial support from the MND Association of NSW. MND NSW provides partial funding for the MND nurse coordinator position at M|N. The MNDS@MU is also generously supported by donations from patients, family and the community. This support allows the clinic to provide expert care for patients at very little cost.
